Committed to California’s Highest Safety Standards
We are proud to fully support and align with California’s Senate Bill 88 (SB 88) safety standards for student transportation. Effective July 1, 2025, SB 88 establishes enhanced health, safety, and oversight requirements for drivers and vehicles used in compensated school-related transportation, including vans with a capacity of 10 passengers or fewer.
Under SB 88, drivers must meet rigorous qualifications — such as passing criminal background checks, tuberculosis risk assessments, drug and alcohol testing, and medical exams — and complete required training in areas like first aid and vehicle inspection. Vehicles used to transport students must also be inspected regularly and equipped with essential safety equipment like first aid kits and fire extinguishers.
Our practices reflect these standards and, in many cases, exceed the state’s requirements, reinforcing our commitment to student safety, regulatory compliance, and reliable service delivery.

Our comprehensive Fleet Management Program ensures students always ride in safe, secure, and fully operational vehicles. Each van undergoes regularly scheduled preventive maintenance, detailed inspections, and continuous monitoring to maintain peak performance and safety compliance.
Southwest Transit Systems’ drivers conduct a thorough pre-trip inspection before every route and a post-trip inspection after all students have been safely dropped off. Information gathered during these inspections is immediately communicated to our fleet management team, allowing us to promptly address any maintenance needs and prevent potential issues before they arise.

Certified Sub Drivers
Southwest Transit Systems can provide you with temporary and/or permanent qualified CDL Certified Sub Drivers.
Our mission is to assist and support schools that have an immediate need for Sub School Bus drivers and relieve you of the stress that comes with the possibility of not being able to cover a route. We can also assist in the task of recruiting and training of drivers at an affordable cost.
Charter Bus Rentals
Charter school bus rentals are an affordable way to provide transportation for student extracurricular activities and non-school activities such as summer camps, youth groups and daycare.
Charter school bus rentals can also meet personal or company needs, whether it’s transporting a group of employees to a corporate retreat, friends to the big game or guests to your wedding and parties.
Special Needs Transportation
Our special needs transportation drivers and monitors understand a student’s educational aspiration, as well as their disability. We aid in our passengers’ success by carefully screening and training our special needs drivers to ensure they have what it takes to help your students prosper.
We offer all necessary equipment and accommodations, including wheelchair-accessible buses. Our drivers and bus monitors are trained to expertly load and care for disabled students and their special equipment.

There are many factors that are taken in consideration when choosing the right transport for your special needs child.
While many special needs children will be comfortable travelling short distances around town on the school bus, they may find longer journeys a challenge. After all, a couple of hours on a noisy bus are enough to make anyone feel restless. In this case, having your own vehicle would alleviate the stress of making sure that your child is comfortable, worrying when the next stop will be or disturbing the other passengers.
